A Special Mention at the German Design Award
The Best Start into the New Year!
2023 had hardly started when we received news that Silhouette and Netural landed a proud success at the coveted German Design Award. A distinguished jury found their innovative "win-win-win" strategy "Silhouette Buy Local" worthy of a Special Mention.
Every year, the German Design Council presents the German Design Award. The Council has been operating since 1953 as a globally leading competence center for communication and knowledge transfer in the fields of design, brands, and innovation. Currently, it counts some 350 well-known companies among its members. With its worldwide scope and international appeal, the German Design Award stands out in the international design landscape as one of the most coveted awards. A 36-member jury selects from around 4500 international submissions all that is excellent in terms of design and groundbreaking in terms of strategy.
This year, Silhouette and Netural received a "Special Mention" for remarkable design achievements with "Buy Local," a highly innovative e-commerce project in an exceptionally challenging market. With Buy Local, premium eyewear brand Silhouette combines digital and analog in a unique way to offer end customers and partner opticians the best of both worlds - outstanding online shopping convenience for end customers that directly generates qualified business leads for established opticians.
The project team succeeded in seamlessly mapping and automating the entire, highly complex process from online product selection by virtual try-on, to making an appointment with an optician of choice, on-time delivery of the product and on-site fitting, altogether offering true "win-win-win": Online shoppers don't need to get up from their chairs to select their Silhouette glasses, opticians can play to their strengths of qualified advice and perfect craftsmanship, and Silhouette plays to all success-relevant sales channels in a groundbreaking way.
This Special Mention crowns a year in which Silhouette and Netural have been celebrating the 20th anniversary of their collaboration in the digital sector. The joy is all the sweeter.
