Netural developed a 'Process Designer' for Scheuch – a web application that enables Scheuch to design complex industrial plants with greater ease and precision.

Task

Scheuch has been designing and building customized systems for reducing emissions since 1963. The objective when designing their systems is to harmonize environmental recommendations, legal requirements and the business objectives of Scheuch's customers.

The development of their solutions therefore requires close collaboration with their customers and detailed planning. From day one, Scheuch employees take the time to discuss projects and requirements in detail. This makes it possible to generate tailor-made solutions.

Challenges

Before working with Netural, the information gathered through talks between Scheuch and their customers was recorded in various different sources and most of the calculations for the quotation were carried out in Excel. The calculations for the systems were not very standardized and not all users were equally familiar with the standards to be applied.

The problem?

  • This decentralized documentation meant that only the respective teams or specialists usually had an overview of the offers currently being prepared and their status and calculation basis.
  • Calculations with different requirements, parameters and variants could only be carried out with a great deal of manual effort.
  • The different sources led to widely varying results and different interpretations.
  • The decentralized processing and lack of systematics also led to an increased need for coordination and a greater likelihood of errors.

As the design of emission reduction systems is a highly complex undertaking and Scheuch products are highly individualized, a solution was needed that would be familiar with these products, would reliably map Scheuch's expertise and would enabled the integration of various systems. None of the standard market solutions met these requirements. It was therefore necessary to develop a customized solution. That's why Scheuch turned to us.

Solution

Netural's aim was to support Scheuch in developing a browser-based web application. This 'Process Designer' now accelerates complex and error-prone processes and enables a better collaboration between sales and plant engineering.

The intuitive UI allows employees to evaluate which components need to be installed and interconnected in order to achieve the customer's individual goals. What's more, it is now much easier for employees to compare several possible solutions and thus provide the customer with even more comprehensive advice.

The result generated through the 'Process Designer' is a virtual model of the plant that is merged directly with the actual quotation system via the framework behind the web application. This framework also enables Scheuch to integrate specialized software solutions and thus reduce the number of interfaces required between individual systems.
